Music is an indispensable element in any party or gathering. This program features a set of virtual turntables and mixing equipment that allows you to mix music, add effects, create custom playlists, and more.
The interface is akin to a real DJ set, but instead of vinyl records, you can use the music files stored on your computer or in any portable device. To open those files, you only need to click on the upper arrow button and choose the "Load" option. After loading all the files you need, you can sort them out to create a playlist, which can be a saver for later use.
To play a file from the list, you only need to drag-and-drop it into any of the turntables and click on the Play icon. Then, you can add elements such as different scratch effects, surface noise, stuck needle, and more. Also, you can modify the song's pitch, tempo and play direction, that is, you can play the file in reverse at different speeds.
The main disadvantage I found is that the program does not play WMA files. This is very inconvenient since this is the default format used by Windows Media Player to convert audio files. Another minor nuisance is that you need to answer a few questions before downloading the installation file.
This free version of the program comes with several limitations. For instance, you can't record your mixes or add visual elements to them. Also, this version is for private, non-commercial use only.
If you are an aspiring DJ or make mixes only for the fun of it, you may want to try this program before deciding if you need a more advanced, cost-based version.
- The program is free to download and use
- It does not play WMA files
- You need to answer two questions before downloading the installation file
